The Bottled Genie founder, Laurie Almodovar, teaches MKT 227—SEO and Web Analytics for Marketing at the Southwestern Illinois College Belleville Campus.
This 3-credit-hour course is part of the digital marketing certificate program. This course is intended for students who want a career in marketing or who work for or own small businesses.
The pace of the course is intense as it is a 16-week program condensed into eight. The format includes classroom discussions and activities as well as online assignments. It will include hands-on activities in simulations and demo sites and accounts.

In the real world most marketing is handled as team. This may be in the form of a marketing department or as a small business owner contracting out work. In either case, cooperation is essential. The business owner may have the final say; however, it could be at the expense of his or her delaying the realization of business goals. Meanwhile the marketing expert must know how to effectively present ideas and tactics without offending the business owner or other team members.
Learning to work in a group prepares students for real-world meetings. Group projects will give students will get the experience of working with a marketing team.
